Gold against dark grey is one of the easier wins in this collection. The charcoal grey melton wool body reads almost black indoors, then the gold cowhide leather sleeves catch the light and lift the whole thing. The Charcoal Grey and Gold Varsity Jacket gets its punch from that gap in tone, not from anything printed on it. Dark wool also stops the gold from looking cheap.
